Six-Week Workshop: Fiction and Memoir Writing
Saturday, July 14–Saturday, August 18
You have a story ... it's on the page, but you're not sure if it's working or how to make it better. In order to move forward, you need insightful feedback and instruction, as well as the support and encouragement of other writers.
In Fiction and Memoir Writing, we’ll be discussing the craft of writing stories, from creating vivid characters and settings to working with perspective, language, and plot. This workshop is open to fiction writers and memoir writers, and you can bring in short stories and/or chapters of larger works-in-progress to share with the class.
During workshop, you’ll learn about the core elements of creating engaging scenes and captivating storylines. We'll study short stories and memoirs from published authors before reading and discussing pieces by workshop members.
What you can expect from this class:
- A wealth of personalized and helpful feedback on your writing
- A solid grasp of the elements of scene-building and story structure
- Coaching through the revision process
- Insight, encouragement, humor, coffee, and baked goods
Time: 10:00am–12:30pm at Opa Coffee Shop, Saturdays from July 14 to August 18
